JEE (Main+ Advanced)

The first one on our list is IIT JEE (Main and Advanced), the exam is conducted twice a year first in January and then in April. IIT JEE scorecard is the direct ticket to admission to the prestigious IIT colleges of India. It is very easy to say that I can crack IIT JEE Mains or Advanced but in reality, it is a tough nut. Students have to put up a lot of hard work and patience for their JEE Preparations.

It takes years of preparation and dedication from students. Those who crack IIT JEE Mains are then given an option to take up admission in NITs while the students who crack IIT JEE Advanced are given an option for admission in IITs. There is a lot of specialization that is available for a student who clears IIT examination. The allotment of the specialization is done based on the rank and seats present in the concerned college.


GATE stands for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is one of the prestigious examinations conducted for admission in Masters programmer. The examination is conducted annually by the IISC Bengaluru and the 7 top IITs. The GATE exam enables a student to take up admission in any Post-graduation course in any of the IITs depending on the seats available per course. The basic eligibility for a student to appear in the GATE exam is having a valid engineering degree from any certified Indian college. The best part about the GATE exam is that the scorecard is valid for 3 years from the day of the exam.


After IIT that is attended by a lot of students, BITSAT is one of the top examinations which students follow. Conducted annually by BITS Pilani, the exam pattern is similar to the IIT JEE. The test majorly comprises of three subjects Physics, Chemistry and Maths/Biology. This exam is usually conducted in the online mode. This is also a very popular engineering course and students who wish to take admission to any of the three BITS campuses viz Hyderabad and Goa. The major course offered by the colleges is Engineering for Maths students while Pharma for those who have a background with Biology.


It is usually conducted by the Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka and is one of the prestigious entrance tests for engineering students in the South. According to data, almost 58,000 students appeared for the COMEDK examination in 2019. This examination is also a computer-based test and comprises three subject’s physics, chemistry and maths. Apart from B. Tech, the students can also take up the COMEDK examination for admission in the B. Arch course. The colleges allotted post completion of this examination is usually based in Karnataka.


MHTCT or as the students call it Maharashtra Common Entrance Test is a state-based engineering test of Maharashtra that is conducted annually by the Directorate of Technical Education. In this examination, 50% weightage is given to the class 12th score while the other 50% weightage is given to the score obtained in the entrance test. Once the examination is completed the students are called for the counseling session where they are allotted colleges based on their scores.
